Salesforce QA Lead

The Salesforce QA Lead role goes beyond traditional QA tasks, involving high-level strategy, testing oversight, and automation implementation. While team members may focus on executing day-to-day testing tasks, the QA Lead ensures the quality and scalability of Salesforce solutions by designing and executing comprehensive testing strategies and driving automation adoption. For example:

  • Test Automation Strategy: The Salesforce QA Lead designs and implements automated testing frameworks using tools like ProVar, Zephyr, Selenium, mabl, and ACCELQ to validate the functionality and scalability of Salesforce solutions.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: This role works closely with Salesforce Development teams, Business Applications teams, and IT, ensuring that automated testing aligns with organizational goals and does not disrupt other systems like Service Cloud or third-party integrations.
  • Performance Optimization: The QA Lead identifies gaps in testing processes, creates automated regression testing pipelines, and ensures faster and more reliable delivery of Salesforce enhancements and releases.

Decision-Making and Impact: The Salesforce QA Lead makes critical decisions regarding test automation, validation processes, and testing priorities, directly influencing system reliability and overall delivery timelines. Examples include:

  • Efficiency Gains: Implementing test automation for routine and complex scenarios, such as end-to-end workflow validations, significantly reduces manual testing efforts and enhances delivery speed.
  • Data Accuracy and Coverage: Developing comprehensive test cases and automation suites ensures complete coverage and minimizes the risk of errors in Salesforce configurations and deployments.

Each of these decisions has a cascading impact on the team's ability to manage customer relationships efficiently, reducing response times and improving overall satisfaction.

Strategic Input and Operational Objectives: As a key driver of quality assurance, the Salesforce QA Lead provides valuable input to management and development teams by:

  • Advocating for Tool Upgrades: Recommending and implementing advanced testing tools like ACCELQ or ProVar to improve testing efficiency and maintain system reliability.
  • Process Optimization: Identifying inefficiencies in manual testing processes and replacing them with scalable automation solutions to meet business needs effectively.

Regular Stakeholders: The Salesforce QA Lead collaborates closely with:

  • CRM Manager and IT Product Manager to align testing strategies with Salesforce development roadmaps.
  • Salesforce Admins and Developers to ensure seamless integration of test automation in the development lifecycle.
  • Business Applications Teams to validate cross-platform workflows and integrations.

Guidance and Direction: Under the guidance of the CRM Manager, the Salesforce QA Lead operates autonomously to:

  • Define and execute automated testing strategies.
  • Prioritize high-impact testing activities and ensure alignment with system architecture and business goals.
  • Mentor QA team members in leveraging testing tools and following best practices in Salesforce quality assurance.

Responsibilities & Duties:

50%: Design, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks using tools like ProVar, Zephyr, Selenium, mabl, and ACCELQ to validate Salesforce solutions. Create and execute test plans, test scripts, and test cases for Salesforce enhancements and deployments.

20%: Act as the quality assurance owner for Salesforce applications, ensuring effective incident management, regression testing, and performance monitoring of automated test suites.

15%: Provide oversight and quality assurance for testing deliverables from outsourced or offshore teams. Ensure alignment with QA standards and best practices.

10%: Collaborate with business stakeholders, Salesforce developers, and admins to ensure testing efforts meet business needs and align with development priorities.
