At Cruise, the Linux Kernel team is responsible for making sure that Linux kernel provides a strong foundation layer for the software controlling autonomous vehicles in the real-life world. If improving performance and reliability of sophisticated systems in safety-critical and real-time conditions sounds like an exciting task, come work with us.

What you'll be doing:

• Improve core kernel subsystems to provide the strongest foundation for the AV stack

• Investigate and improve the performance of heterogeneous compute systems

• Debug complex system issues

• Build system performance and debugging tools

• Ensure system stability and safety

What you must have:

• 5+ years of working with the Linux kernel codebase

• Excellent knowledge of one or more kernel subsystems

• Experience in contributing non-trivial changes upstream

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Bonus points!

• Experience in dealing with custom hardware and drivers

• Experience in real-time environment

• Being an active kernel maintainer

• Linux kernel conference talks (LSFMMBPF, Plumbers, LinuxCon, etc)

The salary range for this position is $161,500 - $237,500. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
