What the Role Is
The Regional Sales Manager position will be responsible for overseeing the execution of suppliers’ strategic initiatives through the management of our broker/distributor partner in the Michigan market. The successful candidate will ensure that our broker/distributor is adhering to brand policies, company objectives are being met and promotional activity is taking place. This individual will also be responsible for market depletions, pricing, NSV and programming of the brands.
How You Will Spend Your Time?
- Manage the day to day sales activities of the HH Market and Channel Manager(s), ensuring that goals and programs are executed and achieved
- Ability to manage distributor/broker relating to the development and implementation of local merchandising program and ongoing performance evaluation
- Managing distributor/broker on a day to day basis, ensuring adherence to our brand policies, distribution objectives are achieved and promotional activity is taking place
- Direct distributor/broker selling activities to achieve sale, distribution and merchandising goals
- Act as primary contact for distributor/broker sales teams to ensure they are informed of local and national objectives and programs while providing support for all sales related activities
- Ability to negotiate pricing with distributor/broker management
- Responsible for educating distributor, broker, and sales staff
- Observe competitive market activity and evaluate distributor/broker execution against our initiatives
- Have high visibility at the distributor/broker office and meet with sales representatives and management to ensure pursuit of Heaven Hill’s goals and objectives
- Execute product seminars at accounts and with and without distributor/broker sales team
- Provide National Account mandate compliance and pricing requests in a timely fashion
- Stay informed and knowledgeable of customer and consumer trends
- Provide monthly market activity report to Director, Control States, West, including a list of objectives, accomplishments, competitive activity, special projects and/or any needs
- Successfully launch all new products achieving volume and distribution objectives
- Provide feedback on effectiveness of marketing and sales initiatives
- Review programs and execution updates with distributor/broker management
- Develop rapport with key retail accounts in region to ensure proper brand distribution, promotion, and shelf management are taking place
- Maintain accurate records regarding distributor/broker profiles, organizational structures, and competitive brand alignments
- Manage all T&E expenses and local budgets for market
- Stay informed and knowledgeable of all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the market and keep management informed of all information pertaining to changes
Who You Are…
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field recommended
- Seven (7) plus years’ work related experience in distilled spirits/wine/beer supplier &/or distributor industry/CPG
- Familiarity with the control system in MI and MLCC rules/policies/procedures
- Travel within state territory. Overnight as needed.
- Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
- Excellent critical thinking skills…using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
- Analytical skills, gathering data from a wide variety of sources, and presenting it in formats suitable for a wide variety of audiences
- Good managerial and effective presentation skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be customer –centric with good negotiation and business expansion skills
- Proficient using Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficient with distributor/broker data bases for communication and analytics of the business
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
- Emphasis in Management and/or Marketing
- Advanced computer proficiency
