About the role

SWBC is seeking a talented individual to produce and sell to personal insurance accounts while maintaining current knowledge of coverages and trends.  This individual will also perform risk analysis for preparing proposals, and perform other duties to meet production goals.

Essential duties include the following:

  • Develops new production, proposals, and consultation to sell new accounts to meet or exceed production goals as jointly established with management
  • Maintains a current level of knowledge on forms, coverage changes, selling trends and techniques through company bulletins and circulars, agency selling aids, and by attending sales seminars, company sales meetings, or educational activities. 
  • Performs comprehensive risk analysis surveys for all personal accounts by obtaining sufficient information regarding a risk to allow the personal service/marketing staff to prepare a proposal. 
  • Meets joint agency/producer defined standards for new business solicitation, ex-dating and production as well as assigned or existing client service. 
  • Renews existing business by developing new coverage, expanding existing coverage and identifying cross-selling opportunities to meet or exceed production goals as jointly established with agency owners. 
  • Monitors all leads and expiration dates and promotes products of carriers that the agency has identified as important. 
  • Processes complete applications and loss summaries by making price recommendations, ensuring the risk factors, following agency defined coverage, limit and proposal format requirements, reviewing for accuracy prior to delivery and ensuring policies are delivered on a timely basis. 
  • Manages full collection of all receivables by arranging the payment terms for all accounts in accordance with the established procedures of the agency, insurance company or financial entity; prepares an annual budget and business plan for all sales activities to be submitted to management; and obtains and follows up on information concerning underwriting, claims, and other areas as reasonably requested by agency owners, customer service representatives or company representatives. 

Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Finance, Marketing, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must obtain a General Insurance license within 30 days.
  • Minimum of one to two (1–2) years of personal lines insurance sales or related experience.
  • Working knowledge of insurance forms, coverage, and rating.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access.
  • Strong understanding of Internet concepts and principles, both from an application and technology perspective.
  • Strong planning, project management, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Able to work independently and exercise sound judgment under minimal supervision in an outside sales work environment.
  • Able to coach, mentor, and train both internal and external resources in assigned products.
  • Able to travel locally and nationally.
  • Able lift and/or push carts carrying 10-20lbs of presentation materials or audio/video equipment and stand for long periods of time while conducting sales presentations.
