General Manager - Water

Description

The General Manager position directs, manages, and coordinates the activities and operation of the water supply operations and maintenance including the maintenance of water distribution system, and coordinates activities with other outside agencies and the public. Required ten years’ experience in a water district in supervision. On site and direct placement.

Duties:

· Plan and direct the activities of staff involved in operation and maintenance of groundwater treatment plants, wells, water distribution systems and related facilities. 

· Develops and administers the district budget and related cost control activities such as approving expenditures, evaluating cost reports and corrective measures to improve efficiency and reduce cost.

· Ensures regulatory compliance in the production and distribution of water. Regulatory compliance in the production, storage and delivery of water.

· Monitors infrastructure and rehabilitation; ensures records are maintained

· Updates the Board of Directors on major issues or concerns related to water.

· Plan operations of large and complex repair and construction work at water treatment plans, water distribution systems and other facilities.

· Manages the selection, training, and supervision of entire staff;

· Prepares, evaluates, and implements budget; develops financial strategies; prepares Capital Improvement Program; 

· Provides legislative direction/advice to Board; works with Board in developing priorities; 

· Implements Board policies and directives and communicates them to the public; 

Requirements

· Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration or similar discipline. 

· Ten years of experience in a water district or similar agency. A minimum of ten years must be in supervision. 

· Methos, principles, and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of domestic water treatment plants and water distribution systems.

· Principles of utility management include maintenance management, budget preparation and monitoring.
