About You and this Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior EH&S Technician in Freeport, Texas within the Stratton Ridge department.  

Shares responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate for the Stratton Ridge facility within TXO. Provides hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for a specific plant. Requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. Acts as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities

• Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
• Ensures that the Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of section owner for the EH&S sections of operating discipline.
• Acts as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
• Serves as plant contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.
• Coaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.
• Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
• Ensures compliance tasks are completed.
• Performs/coordinates certain Environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.

Requirements

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.  
• 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing and/or environmental, health, and safety fields.  
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Must be willing to work weekends, and holidays, if required.
• Must be willing to work overtime (extra hours beyond your regular scheduled) if required.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

• An associate degree, or higher, in relevant field OR 3+ years military experience preferred. 
• 4 or more years of experience in manufacturing and/or environmental, health, and safety fields is preferred.

Additional Notes

• No relocation assistance is available for this position.

Physical Demands

• Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
• Wear and use respirators.
• Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
• Stand or walk for extended periods of time. 
• Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
