The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Candidate will be the Senior Manager for Spaceflight Technical Operations Department
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsible for planning, organizing, leading and controlling the allocated resources of the Spaceflight Technical Operations
Departments.
-Ensures the Spaceflight Technical Operations departments are performing to plan by executing critical path work and shifting the
workforce as needed.
-Actively participate in daily scheduling meetings, providing feedback to maximize workforce capabilities.
-Lead meetings and present data in high level meetings with customers.
-collect lessons learned and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
- Responsible for addressing Mishap, Process Escapes and contract performance.
- Oversees Foreign Object Debris efforts for department and acts as Co-Chair on FOD Committee Team.
-Manages Tool Control activities
-Participates in Audit preparations and assists with active audit reviews.
-Responsible for corrective actions when assigned.
-Responsible for the overall Safety of all department employees, addressing concerns and implementing safety plans.
- Identifies and prepares resource estimates and complies with PPBE/OP Plan budget. Provides inputs to variances and budget
forecast.
- Ability to manage resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints.
- Develops and sets goals for Spaceflight Technical Operations managers and staff, Evaluates performance and provides
recommendations.
- Implements quality, safety and housekeeping standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in related management area; at least 10 years related experience including at least three years of successfully managing people.
-Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
Physical Requirement
- May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
- May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
- Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
- Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines
- Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
- Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance
- Full-time work hours.
- Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Shift work may be required.
Other Essential Function
- Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
- Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
