👁️ Patient Observer – Emergency Department

Location: Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, MA
Organization: Trinity Health Of New England
Schedule: Full-Time | 36 Hours | Day Shift | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Every other weekend & holiday required

💼 About the Role

Mercy Medical Center is seeking a vigilant and compassionate Patient Observer to join our Emergency Department team. In this critical role, you will provide continuous bedside observation and ensure the safety and comfort of patients with a variety of medical conditions.

🩺 Key Responsibilities

• Maintain constant visual observation of assigned patients to ensure safety and well-being.

• Accurately document and report patient behaviors, conditions, and any changes to the care team.

• Assist with patient comfort needs and support a healing environment.

• Greet and interact with patients, families, and visitors in a respectful and empathetic manner.

• Communicate clearly and advocate for patient needs.

• Support the Emergency Department with tasks such as cleaning, stocking, and patient transport.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.

✅ Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• CPR/BLS certification required (American Heart Association accepted; American Red Cross preferred).

• Completion of Assault Reduction Training required.

• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.

• Prior experience in patient observation or healthcare setting preferred.
