About the role

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented and experienced data scientist to join our AI Center of Excellence and lead the development and deployment of large language models (LLMs) and other emerging AI technologies. You will be responsible for building the framework to enable internal development and deployment of LLMs and other generative AI solutions, as well as overseeing and engaging with vendors who are working to deploy their LLM solutions at Corewell Health. You will ensure that we can monitor, support, maintain, and enhance vendor-deployed generative AI solutions, in addition to extend LLMs internally.

Essential Functions

  • Work with our key vendor partners, such as Epic, AWS, Azure, and Snowflake, to design, develop, test, and deploy the framework to enable internal development and deployment of LLMs and other generative AI solutions.
  • Research and evaluate the latest trends and best practices in LLMs and other emerging AI technologies, particularly focusing on the application in medicine.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to define the requirements and specifications for LLMs and other generative AI solutions.
  • Oversee and engage with vendors who are working to deploy their LLM solutions at Corewell Health and ensure that they adhere to our standards and expectations.
  • Monitor, support, maintain, and enhance vendor-deployed generative AI solutions, and troubleshoot any issues or problems that may arise.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other AI developers and engineers in the AI Center of Excellence.
  • Provide education on use-case specific generative AI tools to relevant stakeholders to ensure effective use of AI solutions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's Degree or equivalent training in a quantitative discipline – Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field. Similar certified online education or work experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • 5 years of relevant experience in health care, data science, statistics, or a related field. Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor junior team members, and develop complex data-driven solutions.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL.
  • Proficient in health care data exchange models such as FIHR, HL7, and Epic APIs.
  • Proficient in Epic data models such as Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle.
  • Strong experience working with clinical teams developing data science or data analytics solutions.
  • Familiar with cloud platforms, such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and their services and tools for LLMs or other generative AI solutions.
  • Knowledgeable in natural language processing, natural language generation, text summarization, text analysis, or other related domains.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Passionate about AI and innovation, and eager to learn and grow.
