Training Supervisor – Travel

The Travel & Training Supervisor supports university travel operations by coordinating complex domestic and international travel, and leading training programs for travel staff. As a supervisor, this role provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure effective operations, high service standards, and continuous improvement. The position serves as a trusted advisor to campus departments and works under the direction of the Director of Travel & Logistics Group.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Lead development and delivery of training programs; mentor and onboard staff
  • Supervise daily travel operations and support high-volume booking activity
  • Coordinate complex group and individual domestic and international travel
  • Consult with departments on travel planning and logistics
  • Provide on-site support for group and VIP travel as needed
  • Negotiate contracts with airlines, hotels, and vendors
  • Advise on travel policies, procedures, and expense management
  • Manage after-hours travel emergencies
  • Conduct presentations and maintain strong campus relationships
  • Support process improvements and departmental initiatives

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Strong training, communication, and presentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency with travel systems (e.g., SABRE)
  • Knowledge of travel operations, contracts, and fare construction
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills

Preferred

  • Experience in training management within travel or a related field
  • Experience with group and international travel
  • Experience leading projects or process improvements

Pay Grade: 53

Typical Starting Pay: $73,000-$95,000

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
