Machine Learning Research Intern 

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are to: 

  • Develop and evaluate state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms applied to chemistry and biology;
  • Work with the Machine Learning Research team to develop and/or evaluate state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms applied to chemistry and biology;
  • Process and analyze chemical and biological datasets;
  • Implement and test machine learning models for (bio)molecular property prediction and optimization;
  • Evaluate different molecular representations in supervised and unsupervised learning tasks;
  • Interact with chemistry, biology, and data science teams to understand how machine learning fits into our R&D operations and how novel solutions can be operationalized;
  • Regularly communicate results and progress to the Machine Learning Research team and other relevant stakeholders.

 

WHO YOU ARE

 

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Actively working towards a Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry/Biology, or related technical fields;
  • Interest in research at the interface of computer and life sciences;
  • Have good general knowledge of chemistry and/or biology;
  • Have strong oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain concepts clearly in lab and small team settings.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have Python programming experience;
  • Have experience with data science and/or cheminformatics libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, RDKit, OEChem, DeepChem);
  • Have experience with deep learning libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

 

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $34.70 to $46.30. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).  Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..  This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
