SALARY:

$10,143 - $16,468/per month Non-PERS Rate

$10,752 - $17,455/per month PERS Rate

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

In this role, you will advance the goals of the Agency through oversight of the financial audit section at the Secretary of State. This will include oversight of the State of Oregon’s annual financial statement audit, responsibility for the State’s annual federal compliance work, and oversight responsibility for administration of the State of Oregon’s Municipal Audit Program. This is accomplished in part by, but not limited to:

  • Reviewing and researching federal and state laws, rules, and regulations effecting the State of Oregon’s financial auditing practices.

  • Coaching and mentoring a team of four financial audit managers, to ensure development and maintenance of critical skills, knowledge, experience, and attributes.

  • Receiving direction, confirming priorities within workload, delegating tasks, identifying and communicating challenges to leadership, communicating timely updates, and following up with on delegated tasks, as appropriate.

  • Overseeing efforts for standards and quality control, including maintaining updated quality control procedures, templates, workpapers, and forms.

  • Administering contracts associated with the performance financial audit activities.

  • Developing, recommending, and implementing policy to ensure sound financial audit operations.

  • Interpreting and applying federal and state laws and regulations, and Agency rules, policies, and procedures for financial audit activities.

  • Providing training on financial auditing, government accounting, and municipal audit law to internal staff and members of the public.

  • Providing presentations on financial auditing and municipal audit law to members of the Legislature and the public.

  • Managing the daily operations of the financial audit staff, including but not limited to: interviewing, selecting, and providing training for new staff, developing, coaching, planning, assigning, prioritizing and reviewing work, monitoring and evaluating performance, determining the need for and initiating disciplinary action in order to ensure adequate and competent staff for the financial auditing section of the Audits Division, and responding to complaints.

  • Assisting the Audits Director with strategic planning (short and long-term goals) for the Audits Division.
