HOWARD UNIVERSITY AND PNC NATIONAL CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP
BACKGROUND
The National Center will serve as a hub for HBCUs to enhance instruction and provide real-world learning opportunities for students across the campuses and provide opportunities for faculty to engage in interdisciplinary scholarly research. In addition, the National Center would be a significant resource not only to the Universities, but also the community in areas of innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship, technology commercialization and regional technological and economic development. A major focus for the National Center and its regional HBCU partners is to engage the black business community in growing their enterprises, thereby having a positive impact on the community and increasing employment and wealth for the black community.
The mission of the Howard University and PNC National Center for Entrepreneurship is to be a national resource for black businesses and entrepreneurship education at HBCUs across the country. Further, the National Center will seek to collaborate, communicate, and work with historically Black colleges and universities and their business community to enhance black business growth and successes. The National Center for Entrepreneurship will seek to advance the best practices and be a thought leader in research and practice of entrepreneurship for African American students and business owners.
