About the role

We are looking for a Safety, Health & Wellbeing Advisor to work closely with the UPP Residential Regional Leadership and Senior Managers from all other business areas, supporting, guiding, and influencing managers on a common and consistent approach to all safety, health and wellbeing matters, aligned to UPP’s values, using a holistic approach 

 

This will involve proactive management of change and seeking out ways help managers fulfil their responsibilities as leaders and operational teams to take accountability and ownership of Safety, Health and Wellbeing performance. 
 
You will support the Safety, Health and Wellbeing Business Partner in implementing the Occupational Health and Safety Management system and our Wellbeing Programme to ensure the prevention of occupational injury and ill health and helping ensure an improved level of performance, culture, participation and compliance 
 

You’ll also deliver Health & Safety training and driving the organisations behavioural safety culture by raising awareness and leading by example, leading campaigns within UPP Residential Services to raise awareness of safety culture and ownership. 

 
This role is home based and covers the London and South Region including Reading & Oxford, Exeter, Swansea. 

 

We are looking for you to have experience of: 

  • Writing reports, policies, procedures and safe systems of work in an engaging style 

  • Providing guidance/advice and addressing workplace concerns within an organisation at all levels 

  • Developing, delivering and evaluating health and safety training 

  • Undertaking accident investigation including making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence 

 

Alongside this you will also have: 

  • Ability to undertake health and safety inspections, audits and specific risk assessments 

  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to persuade, influence and, when appropriate, challenge with tact and diplomacy. 

  • Coaching skills to support, advise and coach on a wide range of health, safety and wellbeing matters 

  • Excellent and confident communicator skills in both verbal and written correspondence 

  • Ability to translate health and safety knowledge into actions and to use knowledge to anticipate business requirements 

  • Analytical skills, with the ability to analyse and understand data and information, and to present the findings, identifying areas of risk, opportunities & solutions 

  • Ideally hold an industry recognised professional health and safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH National General Certificate,
