POSITION SUMMARY
Orion is a leading specialty construction company delivering complex marine, heavy civil, and infrastructure projects throughout the United States and beyond. Our teams specialize in self-perform construction, including ports and marine terminals, bridges, piers and wharves, pile driving and deep foundations, marine concrete, dredging support, coastal and waterfront infrastructure, and other technically challenging heavy civil projects.
Orion has an immediate opening for an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager based in Federal Way, Washington, supporting projects throughout the Puget Sound region and other locations as business needs require.
This is an on-site position and is not a remote or hybrid opportunity. Travel to project sites is required, including the ability to work out of town for extended periods when necessary.
The Project Manager is accountable for providing project engineering and management support to Orion Marine Contractors, Inc., while developing and maintaining superior customer relationships. This position plays an integral role in the successful execution and profitability of Orion's self-perform marine and heavy civil construction projects.
Responsibilities include developing bid packages, calculating project costs, selecting suppliers and subcontractors, procuring materials and services, interpreting project plans and specifications, scheduling construction activities, monitoring costs and project performance, providing project oversight, coordinating with field personnel, and helping ensure successful project completion and closeout.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing self-perform heavy civil and/or marine construction projects and must be comfortable working closely with Superintendents, Foremen, craft personnel, engineers, clients, suppliers, and other project stakeholders in both field and office environments.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Works with the Project Management Team to ensure the successful completion and profitability of ongoing and new projects.

Provides overall project management guidance and oversight to Superintendents and Foremen for approved marine and heavy civil construction projects.

Manages and supports the execution of self-perform construction activities, coordinating labor, equipment, materials, schedules, and field operations.

Develops bid proposals for upcoming marine construction and services projects and ensures timely submission of completed proposals.

Negotiates contracts and change orders as may be required by the business.

Estimates costs to be incurred on upcoming and active projects, accounting for materials, services, labor, equipment, and other associated costs.

Procures materials and services from suppliers for current projects as required by project needs.

Interprets project plans and specifications as required for customers, suppliers, field personnel, and others involved in the project.

Schedules project work activities according to project plans and timelines to help ensure timely project completion.

Monitors project costs, schedules, productivity, and overall performance to support successful and profitable project execution.

Provides interface with project team members, suppliers, customers, subcontractors, and others involved in project work.

Works closely with field leadership to identify and resolve construction challenges while maintaining project schedule, quality, and budget requirements.

Ensures project team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and Company policies.

Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that contribute to compliance with State and Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.

Travels to project sites and other Orion locations as required. Travel and the ability to work out of town for extended periods are required for this position.

Must be qualified and physically able to drive regular passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites.
