Senior Quality Manager - Erlanger, KY

Job Summary:
This role will oversee for the qualification, testing, release, and ongoing monitoring of raw materials. This role ensures materials meet established quality, safety, regulatory, and specification requirements prior to use, supporting compliant production and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Job Functions: 

  • Review and approve or reject new and second-source raw material workflows, ensuring alignment with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete QCBEV workflow responsibilities, including accurate input and maintenance of raw material data in the AS400 system (flash point, storage conditions, shelf life, appearance, aroma, and color).
  • Complete QC workflow responsibilities, including:
  • Direct communication with vendors to obtain and align specifications.
  • Conducting food safety risk assessments and determining appropriate testing requirements.
  • Performing full testing of samples against approved vendor specifications.
  • Using FCC and USP monographs as guidance for vendor specification expectations.
  • Utilizing HorizonScan to assess and monitor vendor food safety risks.
  • Support the evaluation and implementation of reduced testing plans for raw materials, based on risk and historical performance.
  • Pre-review vendor specifications with R&D Flavor Scientists and Category Specialists to determine qualification of second-source raw materials.
  • Review and verify chemical and physical testing requirements in Raw Material Purchase Specifications within PolicyTech.
  • Pre-review vendor Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for out-of-specification materials and collaborate with the Purchasing Team and Purchasing Manager to determine disposition or outlet options.
  • Manage day-to-day raw material out-of-specification (OOS) issues escalated from QC Raw and Color laboratory technicians, including:
  • Retesting and investigations.
  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving.
  • Indirect communication with vendors as needed.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain QC Raw Material Rejection workflows.
  • Review CAPAs and vendor feedback provided by the Purchasing Team following rejections.-
  • Support the Receiving Team with incoming damaged raw material investigations and disposition decisions.
  • Work directly with the Regulatory Team to obtain and resolve missing or incomplete raw material data in AS400.
  • Address Co-Manufacturer (CoMan) issues and concerns related to the use of company raw materials.
  • Execute additional projects and initiatives as assigned by Regional QC and QFS Management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related science field required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of QC Lab experience and
  • Knowledge of raw material testing, specifications, and supplier documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), PowerBI, AS400, and MS Office.
