This Principal Software Engineering role is part of the DAS/FM&C department within the Avionics business unit at Collins Aerospace.

We’re seeking a driven and talented engineer to join our Software Engineering team, focused on delivering advanced display solutions to a global customer base, primarily within military markets. This is a high-visibility opportunity to shape the architecture of next-generation avionics displays while building a broad professional network across the Avionics organization.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, cross-functional development teams, and program management, giving you exposure to a wide range of engineering challenges and growth opportunities.

What You Will Do:

• Perform as an architect to select and develop the right display solutions for on-going pursuits.  This includes developing design approaches for display software solutions. 
• Develop product line roadmaps and influence new technology usage on executing programs.
• Develop innovative design approaches that meet customer requirements, cost targets, and product line objectives.
• Requirements, software, and test work, depending on program need.
• Support teams of software and systems engineers to develop, integrate and release displays software products.
• Primary displays technical points of contact for our programs.
• Cost Account Management responsibilities as needed. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
• Experience with software design and development processes.
• Familiarity with Python scripting.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Experience with DO-178 or similar certification-based development processes.
