What you'll be doing 

The Separately Managed Account (SMA) Investment Associate is responsible for performing research and oversight necessary to ensure the consistent implementation of the investment platform. In this role, you will demonstrate solid written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills to review and ensure adequate documentation related to portfolio exceptions including concentrations, off-list holdings, and unique assets. In addition, you will act as a resource consultant and assist with efficient and effective investment implementation and management, working with business line management to identify investment implementation risks. You will also work with compliance, risk management and internal audit to remediate findings and report issues and findings to senior management.

How you'll succeed 

  • Support the CIBC Private Wealth Management equity team in their daily management of separately managed accounts. 

  • Responsible for trade order creation and strategy implementation for a wide range of client portfolios.    

  • Monitor portfolio drift and work with internal teams to find solutions.

  • Support senior management and investment officers by performing duties such as research, reporting, and creating presentations.

  • Provide investment expertise to Relationship Managers, Business Development Officers, and Clients.

  • Help identify and sustain a balanced approach to managing risk by ensuring compliance controls and processes (regulatory, compliance, fiduciary) are integrated into day-to-day activities.

  • Contribute to a strong organizational culture through positive, collaborative behaviors resulting in client and employee engagement.

  • Pursue continuous improvement and be a problem solver by anticipating obstacles, developing plans to overcome, and looking for innovative ways to improve.

Who you are 

  • You have a bachelor’s degree and minimum of two years of relevant investment experience.

  • You have experience working with order management systems and Schwab or Fidelity platform.

  • You can demonstrate a working knowledge of global markets, economics, and portfolio theory.

  • You have worked with FactSet and Excel.
