About the role

Overview

The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in supporting the financial operations of the organization. This individual oversees and manages key accounting functions including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash, foreign exchange activities, international inter-company transactions, annual financial audits, internal controls, and fixed asset management. The role demands strong analytical skills, deep accounting knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across a multinational enterprise.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

8:00am-5:00pm

Positions Supervised: Accountant, Staff Accountant and Accounts Receivable & Payable team

Assistant Controller Salary Range: $135,566.50 - $169,458.07

MONTHLY CLOSE & FINANCIAL REPORTING:

  • Leads and executes monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Reviews and posts journal entries and accruals.
  • Ensures timely delivery of financial reports in accordance with internal policies and GAAP.
  • Assists with compiling monthly financial package for senior management.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting to the bank as required.
  • Responsible for reviewing all general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis for responsible reporting functions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of financial data.
  • Provides training and mentoring to direct reports to enhance professional development.
  • Conducts performance evaluations of direct reports that are timely and constructive.
  • Supervises and manages direct reports.

  • Leads, coaches, and develops a high-performing team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Provides training and mentoring to direct reports to enhance professional development.
  • Sets clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance evaluations and feedback sessions.

  • Ensures team compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors team workload and resource allocation to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Drives employee engagement initiatives and contributes to retention strategies.
  • Resolves team conflicts and manage underperformance in a timely and constructive manner.

 

ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE AND ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:

  • Oversees daily AP and AR operations ensuring compliance with company policies and deadlines.
  • Supports vendor management, invoice processing, collections, and cash application.
  • Monitors aging reports and proactively resolves discrepancies
  • Establishes, monitors and maintains a current Credit and Collections Policy.
  • Establishes processes which ensure all cash applications are posted timely and properly.
  • Evaluates and approves credit decisions within assigned authority supported by credit analysis and review of Dealer financial statements.
  • Reviews new vendors for CTPAT/ICA compliance and manages annual PCI compliance.
  • Reviews weekly check runs for accuracy and approval compliance.
  • Ensures accurate and timely annual 1099 reporting.
  • Collaborates with the Purchasing department on procedures, approvals and expenditure guidance.
  • Oversees and updates leases and related CAM charges.

 

CASH MANAGEMENT & FOREIGN EXCHANGE

  • Manages daily cash flow and banking relationships.
  • Supports foreign currency transactions and translations in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
  • Collaborates with treasury to forecast liquidity and mitigate FX risk.

 

INTER-COMPANY PROCESS

  • Coordinates international inter-company billings and settlements.
  • Reconciles inter-company accounts and resolves imbalances across global entities.
