Human Resources Analyst, Faculty Records (Higher Education Analyst)

 

The Office of Faculty Affairs Administration encompasses all Provost-area activities related to appointments, promotion and tenure (APT), professorships, faculty employment records, data systems, and related analyses. The office provides assistance to the Provost and Deans’ offices on a range of faculty matters. The office also works with other academic, administrative, and technology units across the university to coordinate the processes, standards, and systems that make information about Duke faculty easier to collect, process, maintain, analyze, and share.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Administration, the Faculty HR Analyst will ensure that faculty human resources processes are well-supported by existing enterprise software applications, such as Academic Jobs Online, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP iForms. This position will work closely with Human Resources, Administrative Systems Management, and the Office of Information Technology to ensure that day-to-day transactions and reporting needs are well-supported.

This person will become very familiar with the processes surrounding faculty recruitment, hiring, and effort management. They will help troubleshoot transactional issues that escalate to the Provost’s Office, as well as manage access to sensitive data. This person will utilize reporting tools such as SAP, Excel, and Tableau to enhance reporting capabilities. We are looking for someone who is meticulous not only in their communication style but also in their ability to monitor large data sets.

This position requires strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate, and resolve systems issues and related business problems.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the processing of daily transactions related to faculty recruitment, hiring, and effort management.
  • Maintain data security by periodically monitoring system access and workflows.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service on escalated help desk tickets and data requests.
  • Work with other analysts on the team to improve processes and training.
  • Help maintain data integrity by coordinating cleanup tasks with data owners throughout the university.
  • Help test new application features by distilling business use cases into a minimal number of test cases and control data sets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Work requires a bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of work experience in systems analysis or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • One year of experience in human resources.
  • One year of experience with SAP.
  • Strong understanding of the human resources lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, retention, development, offboarding).
  • Experience documenting detailed requirements.
  • Organized and capable of handling multiple tasks.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information science, business, management, human resources, finance, computer science, database administration, or technical communication.
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated experience with SQL.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the software development life cycle.
  • Demonstrated experience with Tableau or similar business intelligence tool.

 

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $60,328.00 to USD $94,000.00.
