The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Software Asset Manager. The ideal person would be one who has a strong background in software licensing and software audit work, can keep up to date on software publisher trends, good with working with multiple stakeholders including presenting reports with clear messaging, and can dig deep into data. This role will involve working with business and IT partners to ensure the optimization of our software expenditure.

Responsible for facilitating software acquisition and software lifecycle management in Flexera One and ServiceNow and maintaining effective license positions for tier 1 and 2 software publishers. Software lifecycle activities include asset owner, procurement, and customer support activities to mitigate compliance risks and maximize the value of software asset investments. Provides reporting and management of software assets to drive effective management, value creation, and compliance. Executes, supports, or leads creation, maintenance, and validation of software license rules, SaaS utilization, and inventory reconciliation. Drives value creation from license optimization for a complex portfolio of software assets.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio; TX, Plano; TX, Phoenix; AZ, Charlotte; NC, Tampa; FL or Colorado Springs; CO. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Performs software asset management for complex tier 1 licenses during acquisition, management, optimization, and retirement lifecycle phases.

  • Provides advanced analytical, business, and technical support related to strategic business functions, processes, and applications/IT platforms.

  • Enables efforts supporting business analysis and decision-making processes to establish and maintain effective license positions for on-prem, hybrid, and SaaS software applications.

  • Executes and oversees processes to manage risk, maintain compliance, and maintain the asset management program.

  • Executes internal and external software audits to ensure both compliance and optimization.

  • Provides advice to procurement and legal partners on software asset management, including interpretation of software contracts and licenses.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • 6 years of experience developing and analyzing software license contracts and management strategies for tier 1 software publishers.

  • Experience in conducting software discovery, asset reconciliation, internal and external audits, and license optimization activities.

  • Advanced user of SAM tools and technology including Flexera or SNOW, and ServiceNow or equivalent enterprise software asset management tools.

  • Experience negotiating software license contracts that create organizational value and minimize software costs.

  • Advanced knowledge of IT Asset Management principles and techniques.

  • Experience in creating analytical and financial models for data-driven decisions.

  • ITIL and CSAM certification.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $93,770 - $179,240.
