Schedule: Wednesday – Saturday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Wednesday alternates on/off each week)

Job Summary

The Assistant Inventory Control Manager is responsible for supporting the management, organization, and performance of all inventory control functions, including receiving, stockroom, material movement, and cycle counting. This role drives shift-level execution by ensuring production receives material on time, operations are well-coordinated, and supervisors and assistant supervisors are effectively leading their teams. The Assistant Manager is accountable for tracking performance metrics, reporting results, and highlighting challenges and root causes when goals are not met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

  • Support recruitment, training, and retention of inventory control team members across receiving, stockroom, and analysis functions.

  • Ensure supervisors and assistant supervisors are leading effectively, holding them accountable for execution and shift performance.

  • Monitor shift performance and provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action where needed.

  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.

Performance & Communication

  • Track and report key operational metrics (accuracy, timeliness, material availability, SLA compliance).

  • Provide timely reports to Inventory Control Manager, Operations, and Production leadership on team performance.

  • Highlight shift challenges, explain root causes for misses, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Maintain effective communication across all levels, ensuring production and leadership have visibility of inventory status.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Oversee shift execution of receiving, put-away, cycle counting, kitting, and stockroom processes.

  • Ensure materials are organized and delivered to production on time to support manufacturing schedules.

  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to resolve bottlenecks and operational delays.

  • Support compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and inventory control standards.

  • Participate in physical inventories, audits, and process improvement initiatives.

Continuous Improvement & Cost Control

  • Support initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and improve efficiency across the department.

  • Drive adherence to SOPs while identifying opportunities to simplify or enhance processes.

  • Assist in controlling operational costs by reducing non-value-added activities and minimizing rework or material loss.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of warehouse and inventory control operations.

  • Ability to lead teams through supervisors and assistant supervisors, ensuring accountability and consistent execution.

  • Skilled in analyzing metrics, identifying performance gaps, and implementing corrective actions.

  • Strong communication skills; able to present shift results and issues to senior management clearly.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and warehouse/inventory management systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in fast-paced environments and manage competing priorities.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of warehouse or inventory control experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

  • Experience with manufacturing or logistics operations preferred.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
