Purpose

This position will lead the Alumni Events team, which is part of the McCombs Career Management & Corporate Relations department.  The key purpose of this role is to lead alumni events strategy to drive alumni engagement through customized programming, chapter engagement and large-scale networking opportunities to keep alumni connected to McCombs post-graduation through life. 

 

Responsibilities

• Lead the Alumni Events team forward with clear expectations and communication for each role and collectively.  Create consistent individual and team touchpoints to support growth and development.  Build structure to support team goals and track progress.  Provide training when needed to ensure all team members receive support needed to be successful in team roles.

• Manage and streamline large scale and custom programming and events.  Lead team working on event coordination with project plans and timelines shared across the team.  Create and manage event communications and marketing to support alumni events and/or programming in collaboration and alignment with the alumni engagement team.

• Connect with team to create alumni chapter strategy.  Meet with all chapter leaders to assess interests, support needed and goals.  Work to create an ideal connection point with each chapter, understand budget allocations and provide best-in-class service to our alumni across all chapters.  Introduce new programming, ideas and innovate as requested. 

• Collaborate with School stakeholders, including Career Management & Corporate Relations, Development, Communications and Marketing, as well as campus units to ensure alignment of organizational goals for alumni events in the team’s coordination and strategy. The goal is to communicate events in coordination with other alumni messaging to provide one streamlined communication to alumni as needed to drive engagement.

• Inspire leadership and support of dedicated staff: Lead a team of staff who are dedicated and committed to transforming the alumni experience and engagement. Ensure that adequate systems and resources are available to manage growth and development of staff. Foster an environment where staff are recognized as innovative and productive members of Texas McCombs community. Encourage collaboration, innovation, ownership and accountability.
