We're seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Editor/Producer to join the streaming arm of TEGNA’s Central Content team. This dynamic role requires a creative journalist with a passion for storytelling and a commitment to creating engaging and authentic content for a diverse audience.  The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and versatile self-starter with a strong sense of responsibility for creating compelling, high-quality video content that captivates and informs our growing audiences across our local television stations' streaming apps.  They will have a strong background in news production, with a proven ability to edit video and graphics using a keen artistic eye, write effective scripts, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment. This role will involve both editing and producing live and VOD content for TEGNA's streaming apps.

Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:

  • Use editing tools and creative production techniques to create video content
  • Develop innovative, engaging and authentic news content for a national streaming audience
  • Write clear, engaging scripts that are backed by accurate and reliable research
  • Combine live pictures, graphics, compelling video and emotional sound to create an engaging experience for our audience
  • Challenge traditional ways of doing things
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support the overall goals of the team
  • Advocate for underrepresented people, communities, and viewpoints to have a voice and presence in our content

 

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree preferred in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Knowledge of editing systems such as Edius and Premiere
  • Experience editing news content and an understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
  • Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair, and unique content
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under time-pressure deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Must be able to work early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
  • Previous experience with live streaming software (VMix or similar) a plus
