Job Description

The Threat Hunting Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of threat hunting activities across the global enterprise. They will need to work closely with the other functions of Security Operations, such as the SOC, penetration testing, and incident response teams, to identify indicators and facilitate hunting opportunities for cyber threats that may evade traditional automated detection and security controls. Additionally, the hunter will directly support incident response efforts during high priority incidents to fully investigate the threat and achieve full containment.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for coordinating and managing day-to-day IT security threat hunting activities across the global enterprise environment, including both corporate and manufacturing systems.
  • Partner closely with the Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) in a highly collaborative operating model to plan, execute, and refine threat hunting activities.
  • Work in continuous alignment with SecOps and the MSSP to proactively identify, investigate, and validate potential threats and indicators across global regions.
  • Conduct coordinated threat hunts across the Olympus enterprise leveraging threat intelligence, indicators, and forensic analysis methodologies informed by Incident Response, MSSP inputs, third-party notifications, and open-source reporting.
  • Collaborate with the MSSP to ensure consistent global coverage, visibility, and prioritization of threat hunting efforts across all regions and environments.
  • Clearly and concisely document threat hunting objectives, methodologies, findings, and remediation recommendations for reporting to SecOps leadership and senior management.
  • Work jointly with Incident Response and the MSSP to support investigations, applying threat hunting and digital forensic analysis techniques to accelerate detection and aid in containment of active threats..
  • Partner with the MSSP and internal stakeholders to identify threats impacting both IT and manufacturing environments, ensuring alignment in analysis and response.
  • In response to findings from threat hunts, incident investigations, MSSP insights, and threat intelligence, collaborate with SecOps and the MSSP to enable deployment of safeguards, detections, and compensating controls.
  • Assist in driving a unified, global view of security risk by working across MSSP resources and regional business and operational teams.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the MSSP to continuously improve detection capabilities, hunting methodologies, and remediation strategies.
  • Other responsibilities / duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, or other related field (or equivalent and related experience). IT Security certification preferred (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GCFA, GEIR, GPEN, GICSP, GRID).
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in IT systems security support.
  • Deep understanding of information security topics (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability).
  • Knowledge about threats, vulnerabilities, Windows patching, Application patching, CVSS 3.0.
  • Experience working on SIEM, EDR, and DFIR applications.
  • Knowledge of current security risks and protocols.
  • Demonstrable technical communication.
