The Software Engineer II applies secure software engineering principles to the design, development, testing, maintenance, and evaluation of software and cloud infrastructure. This role collaborates closely with teammates to understand business requirements, contribute to architectural discussions, and deliver scalable, resilient, and secure systems. It also incorporates the responsible use of AI-assisted development tools to streamline coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation activities across the SDLC. The position emphasizes strong software craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and effective collaboration within the Central Dispatch engineering ecosystem.

Primary Duties and Key Responsibilities
What you will do
Design, build, test, and maintain features across .NET/C# services and React + TypeScript web apps on the Central Dispatch platform, including appropriate use of AI-assisted development tools during daily engineering work.
Participate in design and architecture discussions, using both personal analysis and AI-supported exploration to clarify technical options and desired outcomes.
Help break functional and business requirements into clear, estimable engineering tasks, using AI tools where appropriate to sharpen estimates and insight.
Write high-quality code with unit, integration, and system tests for business-critical components, using AI assistance to increase test coverage and reduce repetitive work while validating all AI-generated output.
Build and consume RESTful and event-driven services (AWS SQS, background jobs) that keep dispatch, listings, and fulfillment data in sync.
Apply secure coding practices, and use AI-enabled scanning and analysis tools to help identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis, combining traditional debugging with AI-guided investigation to speed discovery and remediation, using observability tooling such as New Relic and Splunk.
Modernize legacy components through refactoring and migration, using AI tools to analyze existing patterns and propose alternatives.
Help maintain cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines (AWS, Terraform or CDK, Docker).
Contribute insights, patterns, and lessons learned from prompt experimentation and AI-assisted workflows to help refine team practices.
