In this role, you will be part of VELUX Global Procurement and you will report directly to the Senior Category Manager. You will join a global procurement team dedicated and skilled in handling primarily tactical and operational purchasing tasks. Central Hub for our Strategic Buyer team is Warsaw with alternative production and office sites in Poland (Warszawa), Denmark (Østbirk or Skjern)
Your challenges
As a Strategic Buyer in our Aluminum & Metal Parts category, you will be responsible for ensuring good business solutions for the VELUX Group. Your tasks will cover the full range of strategic, tactical, and operational tasks. You will be co-responsible for minimizing our purchasing and production costs and ensuring that our development projects are accomplished in the right quality, at the right time, and at the right price. The successful candidate will achieve this through strong relations with external suppliers as well as internal stakeholders and by pro-active execution of the overall purchasing strategy within your product area. At the VELUX Group, we are on an exciting journey focusing on sustainability and bringing down our carbon footprint, and as a Strategic Buyer, you will have the chance to play a key role in this mission. Order handling is not part of the operational tasks of this role, but is handled by our factories in the US, Europe, and China.
More specifically, you will:
Take responsibility for independent and cross-functional strategic projects
Be responsible for own portfolio of projects for cost reduction
Be vendor responsible and negotiate and make commercial agreements
Participate in the development of the overall purchasing strategy with a main focus on the execution
Execute RFI/RFQ processes and ensure correct purchasing master data in SAP
Ensure continuous communication with internal stakeholders regarding valid supplier contracts, prices, and general optimization which could include possible new suppliers
Work with Purchasing KPIs as a goal for your results
Build and maintain good relations with suppliers as well as internal stakeholders
Admin and processing tools - ca. 50% of work time
You should expect 30-45 traveling days per year.
Your qualifications
Your educational background may be technically supplemented with a commercial education like an engineer or MSc in Economics & Business Administration. You have 2-3 years of professional experience in strategic purchasing and in conducting projects – may be from a similar role as Strategic buyer or perhaps as Strategic Purchaser or Category Manager. Experience within metal parts, steel or aluminum is an advantage but not a prerequisite. Additionally, you are an experienced user of SAP, Ariba, and MS Office 365. You are used to working with many processes and procedures and used to keeping an overview of your tasks in a well-structured manner.
You are a strong communicator with natural skills of building working relationships which enables you to work across the organization and operate in a matrix organization. You thrive on having many contacts across geographic borders and cultures, why fluency in English is a prerequisite. You
