Position Summary

The Sales Director is accountable for profitable growth and new business development for Hallmark Personal Lines by developing and delivering agency-specific value solutions. Positions and creates demand for products and services through effective marketing programs, highly responsive service, results analysis, engagement and retention plans enabling Hallmark to reach its financial targets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties assigned as needed.

  • Lead Personal Lines Sales Staff with organizational skills, account strategies, territory planning and administrative responsibilities to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide coaching, identify training opportunities and ensure that sales processes are being followed by Personal Lines Sales Staff to meet company objectives.
  • Lead Personal Lines Sales Staff with prospect identification, client acquisition and relationship management skills.
  • Evaluate agency relationships for profitability.
  • Build productive relationships with major independent distributors to promote the use of the company’s products; influenced by relationship, trust, ease-of-doing business and financial incentives.
  • Partner with SVP Product Analytics and with Marketing and Sales Trainging Director to establish sales objectives and minimum performance criteria for Personal Lines Sales Staff, and to coordinate sales and service efforts to achieve maximum results.
  • Coordinate and assist in leading sales meetings to include agenda preparation.
  • Partner with Product Team and Marketing and Sales Training Director to identify profitable target marketing areas, develop and execute detailed marketing plans. 
  • Partner with Marketing Team to support personal lines sales team and agencies.
  • Partner with Underwriting regarding any underwriting issues with agents.
  • Partner with Claims regarding any claims underwriting alerts or notable trends.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for Personal Lines Sales Staff.
  • Actively support Personal Lines Sales Staff recruiting, orientation and sales training programs.
  • Attend and participate in agent conventions.
  • Provide senior leadership with regular market assessment. Recommend and implement corrective actions to improve sales performance results.
  • Navigates within the organization to resolve issues and answer questions.
  • Identifies when collaboration with other affected departments’ staff is needed and solicits input from them to make product decisions.
  • Be knowledgeable of underwriting guidelines and policy coverage language.
  • Stay abreast of industry knowledge and trends to gain insight for continuous improvement of product underwriting, and marketing strategies.
  • Responsible for top and bottom-line results for personal Auto and Renters products.
  • Support Personal Lines Territory Sales Managers and Senior Territory Sales Managers in promoting sales of Commercial Lines Products with partner agents that write both personal and commercial products.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience
  • Bi-Lingual (English and Spanish) preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Prior sales management experience with successful track records required
  • Strong marketing orientation with the ability to develop sound marketing strategies to meet profitable revenue goals
  • Must be customer service oriented, highly organized and efficient
  • Ability to build internal/external relationships and develop long-term strategic relationships with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong working knowledge of personal lines insurance operations: claims, coverage’s, products and underwriting are required to effectively communicate with agency and company personnels
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance product preferred
  • Must be able to travel
