About the role

We are seeking an experienced leader in Network engineering, Site Reliability engineering, or Network operations who can lead our Network Rapid Response team in the resolution and avoidance of incidents to JPMC.  This person will be responsible for the availability of the JPMC network and all customer Network support working with a team of engineers and managers to provide Network support.  A person who will lead our goal of modernizing Network operations with continuous improvement, while also ensuring the same incident never occurs twice.  The right person is able to lead JPMC in the resolution of network incidents, be experiencing leading calls in fast moving situations, provide communications to leadership, and follow through on the incident to ensure our customers feel confident that they won’t be impacted again.

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Ability to develop, communicate, and present results to Senior leadership both verbally and in writing.  Lead on Major incident or problem calls what we are doing, delegating people for tasks, or escalating when needed.
  • Lead the team on calls with our customers, providing confident we are managing the incident, while also delegating tasks to the team on what is needed.  Provide communications on the status of our work when engaged, issue is identified, and an executive summary of our findings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issue with a team of engineers of all levels.
  • Lead continuous improvements in areas such as processes, run books, automation, monitoring, postmortems, and reliability improvements.
  • Lead Incident, change, and Problem management, including leading calls, developing reporting and analytics, defining Service level objectives, and vendor management
  • Create lasting relationships with our clients, customers, and stakeholders. 
  • Assist with providing peers or team feedback on how to upskill for employee development.
  • Lead and or participate in the Strategy of the organization, developing, and tracking goals.
  • Analyze, track, and manage incident management for day-to-day operations.  Summarize findings to leadership to hold peers in other teams accountable for delivery dates.
  • Ensure the quality of our support is meeting our customers’ expectations.  Manages any escalations and find ways to create self-service opportunities for our clients. 
  • Drive results around continued improvement of our Network support systems, monitoring, automation, processes, documentation, runbooks, and training.
  • Develop reporting to show trends we can avoid in the future
  • Shift Prefer Tuesday – Saturday, but willing to negotiate for the right candidate.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • 7-10 years at a minimum in a Senior Technical leadership role where they lead an engineering team, SRE, or operations team. 
  • Expertise in multiple Infrastructure technologies below
    • Data centers – Cisco (ACI) or VXLAN with Cisco and or Arista
    • Server load balancing with F5 – Local or Global traffic management
    • Firewalls -Fortinet 
    • Presenting metrics and accomplishments using data analytics
    • Network management and tooling – SevOne, Splunk, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, and or DNA (Digital Network Architecture), SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)
    • Able to read and explain TCP/IP traces 
    • Preferred skills – 
      • SDwan solutions or Service Provider level Wan experience.
      • CI/CD pipelines,  Python, & Ansible
      • ITIL and Operational Governance
      • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP operations.

 

  • Ability to organize work for teams of employees so there is clearly documented accountability.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure components and how they are tracked and managed in various systems.
  • Facilitate Post Mortem meetings and document Problem next steps.
  • Experience with Data analytics, reporting, and looking for patterns in incidents.
  • Technological, Organizational, and/or Operational change management.

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Superior communication skills to lead major incidents with clients, engineers, and vendors.
  • Proven ability to drive results with Agile methodologies and Jira(Align).
