The Wheaton Archives & Special Collections invites graduate students to apply for student worker positions for 2025/2026. Schedules may range from 10-20 hours/week depending on availability.
The position is for 10-20 hours/week and reports to the Archives & Special Collections Coordinator. This position is not eligible for Federal Work Study.
In this role, Archival Assistants serve as the first point of contact for guests and researchers visiting the Archives & Special Collections. Qualified candidates should be current graduate students with strong communication skills, flexibility, enthusiasm, and the ability to interact with diverse visitor populations. Archival Assistants must be hospitable, professional, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
Responsibilities include:
• Supervising the Special Collections Commons, answering questions and directing visitors.
• Providing circulation assistance, discharging and reshelving library materials.
• Paging and refiling archival materials in remote storage
• Monitoring library collections and spaces
• Performing opening and closing procedures
• Providing basic computer and printing assistance
• Assisting with light office duties and special projects as assigned
