Job Description
About the Role:
The Associate Director of Supply Chain will oversee daily supply chain operations including procurement, logistics, inventory, supplier relationships and supply chain team. This individual is responsible for leading collaboration of the design, development, and implementation of Procurement, Planning, Warehouse, Distribution and Logistics solutions. Advise supply chain team in executing best practices. Works closely with finance, manufacturing and IT to drive corporate goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Support – Strategic Commodities
- Manage Supply Chain Specialists/buyers in one or multiple sites world-wide.
- Direct, manage, and support team on strategic and tactical operations.
- Plans, manages, and coordinates all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand.
- Manage weekly/monthly/quarterly metrics to manage:
- Material shortage issues. Manage shortage gap analysis to understand shortage gaps 4-5 months in advance.
- Receiving and accounts payable problem issues.
- Create and maintain purchased part modifiers (lead time, cost, MOQ, supplier, lot sizing, safety stock etc.).
- Coordinate MRB supplier issues and corrective actions. Manage MRB aging targets per Guardant Health’s goals.
- Coordinate engineering change-order implementation with suppliers
- Review PPV monthly.
- Actively manage contract manufacturers, share rolling forecasts, manage the right supply/safety stock levels to ensure quick turn around on changes.
- Lead resolutions for custom issues for international shipments and receipts.
- Develops and implement improved processes and procedures where needed.
Commodity / Supplier Management
- Lead supplier audits in assessing materials/capacity/production capabilities and overall business issues.
- Manage key suppliers to strengthen relationship while ensuring continuity of supply and reducing business risks.
- Understand and communicate lead times, capacities, technology, and pricing trends to align Guardant Health to best-possible supply base.
- Participate in supplier scorecards. Conduct quarterly business reviews with all critical vendors. Review vendor technology roadmap, financial risk assessment.
- Develop contingency plans in addressing sole source issues.
- Lead corporate initiatives resulting in product cost savings strategies.
- Work with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans and strategies, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
- Supports proper utilization of ERP system.
- Monitors and corrects inventory levels at outside warehouses (3PL).
Metrics
- Inventory turns improvement.
- COGS & BOM reduction.
- LT reduction, Flexibility improvement within LT.
- Reduce unfavorable PPV.
- Past-due P.O.s, MRB aging/$ reduction.
Logistics
- Resolve logistics issues of outbound and inbound shipments.
- Lead projects to optimize the shipment tracking process.
- Develop and support shipments to optimize corporate expansion goals.
- Manage freight forwards and transportation companies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- C.P.M. and/or C.P.I.M. preferred but not required.
- 10-12 years related experience.
- 10-12 years purchasing and inventory control experience including the management of strategic commodities and suppliers within a Biotech and turnkey environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented.
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, word processing, Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.
