Job Summary/Purpose
- This position manages project development (Stage 1-2) for all projects excluding those considered to be revenue generating for Capital Projects Project Delivery on behalf of Power Delivery.
- Works with Supervisor/Contractors/Project Team to manage the development of projects to which he/she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety, quality, and risk management.
- Works directly with Project Controls Specialist to ensure process alignment and proper project controls are implemented.
- Works with Finance group to ensure costs are managed, change control is established and controlled
- Provides direct management and support to project team members throughout the project lifecycle.
- Works closely with Business Unit contractor representatives to achieve project objectives.
- Ensures compliance with approved policies and procedures.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals; works with the appropriate Entergy management to assign appropriately skilled individuals to the project team.
- Coordinates with all functional departments as needed to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and guidelines.
- Coordinates and oversees activities of the project team and navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate process to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, etc.).
- Develops the initial Project Execution Plan (PEP) and establishes a consistently sound basis by which to handover projects to Project Delivery
- Ensures project controls are implemented for effectively managing project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts, and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standards.
- Fulfills role as the 'Contract Manager' or the 'Owner's Representative' as defined in the project contract. Administrates the contract and issues formal correspondence to Contractors in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines.
- Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project; ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed.
- Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Identifies, communicates, and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance.
- Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports and presentations for management.
- Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; identifies and mitigates risks.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field OR 4 years of equivalent/related work experience (in addition to Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of degree.
- Preferred: Advanced Degree Preferred - MBA, Masters in Engineering, Construction, Project Management.
Minimum experience required of the position
- 8 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field.
- Desired: 8 years of experience in Engineering.
