SUMMARY
As a member of the IT Infrastructure and Technical Solutions team, the System Administrator participates to the design, administration, upgrade, and maintenance of NASSCO’s infrastructure hardware and software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Contributes to the design and management of computing and data storage solutions
- Responsible for server performance, security, availability and standardization
- Troubleshoots infrastructure problems and coordinates preventative maintenance
- Provides configuration, support and deployment services for virtual and cloud environments
- Participates in the management of end points using SCCM
- Participates in the management of email, virtual machine, external network connectivity and identity management services
- Leads infrastructure changes & prepares status reports to reflect progress
- Assists the software developers and applications specialists in the deployment and troubleshooting of a wide variety of software products
- Develops technical solutions and standard procedures for day-to-day administration of the infrastructure
- Monitors key system metrics to identify trends and analysis using monitoring tools
- Participates in disaster recovery exercises & security audits
- Provides after-hours support for infrastructure related emergencies and weekend maintenance
- Assists less experienced IT Technicians and System Administrators with problem resolution requiring advanced skills
- Stays current on industry trends and technology advancements, provides training and mentorship to team members
- Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety and quality, reduce cycle time, and minimize cost
- Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent is required
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required
- MCTS certification is preferred
- Experience with cloud technology and management of Azure tenant is highly desirable
- Experience with networking technology, diagnose and network packet captures is highly desirable
- Expertise in Microsoft Infrastructure Technologies: Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
- Strong working knowledge of implementing and managing virtual server environments
- Strong working knowledge with scheduling and implementing server and end points maintenance and patching, using various tools including SCCM
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting is highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively with various groups in developing solutions to problems
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form technical material, problem definition, and status on assignment
- Ability to work on projects and assignments with minimum supervision. Must be self-motivated and able to assimilate technical material
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work primarily conducted in an office setting with good lighting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
