KCARC is seeking applications for a Maintenance Assistant. This is a Full-Time, on-site position.


Summary:


Assists Maintenance Worker/Mechanic in performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled jobs pertaining to maintenance of KCARC buildings and equipment. Maintains sewing and associated equipment to assure that it is in acceptable operating condition.


Essential Duties

  • Assist with conducting and auditing on a monthly basis an established preventative maintenance program for all Cut and Sew operations, vehicles and machinery.
  • Assist with maintaining and repairing all Cut and Sew machinery - log downtime, repair and expense by equipment ID (Sewing Machines, Spreader, Web cutter, Box Truck, Fork Truck)
  • Maintain awareness and security of buildings and grounds on a daily basis at Cut and Sew facilities.
  • Assist with maintaining and being responsible for all Cut and Sew equipment parts and supply needs.
  • Keep up to date records of equipment and parts inventory.
  • Estimate materials needed and complete assigned tasks in the most economical and efficient manner.
  • Assist in maintaining safety equipment on machinery, safety guards, lockouts, ventilation, etc., per OSHA regulations.
  • Responsible to follow set priorities on open maintenance work orders and maintain related records.
  • Assist with scheduling deliveries and deliver inventory between facilities.
  • All other duties deemed necessary.
  • Maybe required to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and if required lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Additional hours if needed are mandatory.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s license with excellent driving record.
  • Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department, i.e. overtime.
  • Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to listen to what is said and act upon it appropriately.
  • Ability to use tact and empathy in dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment and plan and organize workload.
  • Some computer proficiency.
  • Accepts responsibility and demonstrates leadership.
  • Is able to multitask effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Trustworthy- Able to keep business confidences as required.
  • Open minded- Willing to embrace change.
  • Tool kit representative of those an employee would utilize while performing the essentials duties of this job i.e. mechanics tool set etc.


Education and or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
