Department Overview
This position is in the Payroll department, within OHSU Finance. This is a temporary position.
Central Financial Services is the division within Oregon Health & Science University charged with the overall responsibility of accurately processing, reporting, and interpreting the university's financial transactions. We support healing, teaching, discovery, and outreach at OHSU by delivering quality financial information and services to the institution, its sponsors, and the community.
Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, this role is responsible for timely and accurately processing of payroll and timekeeping documents including Federal and State W-4 forms, timekeeping setup form, requests for waivers, requests for verification of employment, unemployment claims, direct deposits. This role is also responsible for delivery of payroll checks, printing of payroll documents including statement of earnings, responding to payroll and timekeeping requests. This position is also responsible for the payroll mail intake, sort and distribution to the appropriate recipients. This position is responsible for providing high level customer service to employees, managers, ex-employees, departments and other applicable recipients regarding payroll and timekeeping items via phone, email and Jira customer service system.
Function/Duties of Position
Payroll Processing
- Review accuracy and process documents into the Oracle Payroll System including Federal and State W-4 forms, direct deposit forms, payroll deduction forms, timekeeping setup forms, waivers of differentials.
- Calculate and code retroactive increase adjustments.
- Processes retirement information, garnishments and other legal withholdings.
- Process negative accruals exceptions.
Record Maintenance
- Input payroll information into the system including new and transfer employees’ information for check delivery, the final processing date for ex-employees.
- Respond to requests regarding payroll and timekeeping records, verifications of employment and unemployment claims.
- Sort and deliver the payroll mail and documents including garnishments and checks.
Customer Service
- Provide high level customer service to employees, managers, ex-employees, departments and other applicable recipients regarding payroll and timekeeping items via phone, email and Jira customer service system
- Ensure on-site check delivery as well as on-site documents intake including W-4 forms and garnishments.
Required Qualifications
- One year of payroll processing experience (computing, verifying and entering data).
Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):
- Proficiency with Excel
- Ten-key by touch
- Highly customer service oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- More than one year of payroll processing experience

- Position is 100% on-site at OHSU Marquam Plaza Monday – Friday; between 8:00am – 4:30pm
