Residing within the Business & Operations team of The New School, the Manager of The New Store is responsible for planning and executing the operations of The New School’s onsite and online retail business. This role will report to the Program Manager for Merchandising, Licensing, and Special Projects.
The New Store is not only the university’s official on-campus and online retail outlet, it is also a values-driven creative expression of our brand and spirit. The university’s approach to design, sustainability, and collaboration inspires the way we source products, create partnerships, run operations, and create messaging.
Using their retail industry experience and strong management and organizational skills, the Manager of The New Store will grow sales, manage processes and fulfillment, and oversee the store team to ensure a positive customer experience. The manager will be accountable for operating and continually optimizing an efficient retail business.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and manage the store staff including training, supervision and scheduling.
Monitor and control monthly inventory stock levels Participate in the markdown process of inventory management to include sales events.
Receive and photograph all shipments and process into inventory and e-commerce system.
Organize and maintain a tidy storage office and retail presence.
Maintain knowledge of point of sale and inventory system.
Process online transactions in a timely manager to include confirming purchase orders and mailing merchandise.
Support pop-up retail experiences as needed for campus special events, ex. Commencement, Orientation.
Establish and maintain customer service standards including timely responses to customer inquiries.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
2-5 years of retail management experience.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or professional training in retail/marketing/retail operations.
Knowledge of retail operations such as sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control.
Experience leading and motivating a retail team, strong prioritization and problem solving skills.
Interpersonal skills that include management, teamwork, collaboration, and conflict resolution.
Ability to lift and move 50 pounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with e-commerce and inventory management platforms.
WORK MODE
On-Campus Position: Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. Some weekend work required for special events. #LI-ONSITE
SALARY RANGE
$65,000 - $70,000
