JOB TITLE:Senior AccountantREPORTS TO:Accounting ManagerCLASSIFICATION:ExemptLOCATION: Hybrid but must be based out of Atlanta, GA
SUMMARYThe Senior Accountant position helps ensure compliance with internal financial requirements. The Sr. Accountant works closely with members of the development team and procurement to ensure donation and grant accounting accuracy, maintain a fund ledger, and ensure inventory accounting accuracy. This position also assists with various audits of financial accounts, prepares necessary reports, and other administrative activities. This role is under the direction of the Accounting Manager in accordance with PPSE Medical Standards and Guidelines as well as State and Federal Regulations.  
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESAccountingOverseeing accounting activities, including, but not limited to cash receipts, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory
Fixed Asset AccountingMaintains the subsidiary ledger within accounting system and roll forward schedule Maintains the Work in Progress (WIP) scheduleRecords additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation expenseReconciles at month-end
Inventory AccountingMaintains the subsidiary ledger and roll forward scheduleMonitors and records adjustments, additions, disposals, and transfersReconciles at month-end
Donation / Grant AccountingEnsures donations and grant funding are recorded properlyEnsures receivables are recorded properlyReconciles at month-endPrepares requests to transfer funds to/from accountsDistributes donation updates timely
Cash Receipt AccountingEnsures cash receipts are recorded properly and timely Reconciles at month-endCommunicates with health centers for variance explanations 
Payroll AccountingPerforms payroll transactions export/import processes bi-weeklyEnsures tax notices/tasks are cleared with third-party payroll processing agencyReconciles at month-endCommunicate with HR for any discrepancies 
Financial reporting analysis and compliancePreparing reconciliations, variance explanations, and identifying trends/fluctuations for statements of financial position and financial activityFinancial and Accounting expertise ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state and federal laws and regulations
Grant / Donor managementReviewing grant agreements and donation letters to accurately record receivables and cash receipts for restricted and non-restricted funds while adhering to document retention policies
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or related field. 3 - 5 years as a senior accountant preferably in the nonprofit sectorPossess strong detailed analytical skills, and can apply these skills to solve problems, resolve issues, and make sound decisionsAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingPossess strong collaborative skills to work well with both internal and external partnersExemplifies strong customer service skillsAbility to manage time wisely and communicate timely while managing multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications3 - 5 years as a senior accountant preferably in the nonprofit sectorProject accounting experience preferredProficient in ExcelAbilia (MIP) experienceGeneral knowledge of non-profit accounting principles in a Healthcare environment
Other DutiesCross-trained in all financial matters to provide support to other team members as needed.Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential, maintaining appropriate internal controls, and ensuring accuracy in work performed.Work with leadership to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit and prepare documentation as needed for periodic audits by external auditors, tax filings, and annual surveys.
