About the role

Description

Wellness Equity Alliance (WEA) is a novel national public health organization comprised of a multidisciplinary team of population and public health experts with backgrounds in infectious disease, public health, emergency medicine, primary care, cardiology, pediatrics, psychiatry, community health work (CHW), nursing and advanced practice pharmacy. We work nearly exclusively with underrepresented communities, fundamentally addressing health-care disparities and the social determinants of health (SDoH) that have been amplified during the COVID-19 pandemic, prioritizing the following:

  • People experiencing homelessness
  • Indigenous communities
  • Immigrant communities
  • Rural communities
  • BIPoC communities
  • LGBTQIA+ communities
  • Justice-impacted communities

The WEA team is diverse, inclusive, and nimble enough to assemble teams of healthcare professionals within days using our proven local staff recruitment models to address population health crises and communicable disease outbreaks. The WEA team’s partnership model is collaborative and allows hospitals, health jurisdictions, state/local government agencies to provide timely care using equity-based strategies for individuals and marginalized communities.


JOB DESCRIPTION


Purpose of the position

We are growing and are actively recruiting in the greater Albuquerque area. We are looking for full time and part time medical and behavioral health professionals, including social workers, community health workers (CHWs), and case managers for Street Medicine within the Albuquerque and surrounding communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties:
    • Assist healthcare providers in conducting patient examinations, and treatments.
    • Administer approved medications and vaccinations as directed by healthcare providers.
    • Perform routine procedures such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and dressing wounds.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories and treatment plans.
    • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
    • Provide patient education on various healthcare topics, including medication management, disease prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.
    • Training new staff members on Athena functionalities, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting with workflow enhancements to improve efficiency and patient care delivery.
    • Perform front office duties including appointment scheduling, appointment reminder calls, patient registration, insurance verification and medical record management
    • Provide referrals both internally and externally to appropriate medical resources.
    • Ensure exam rooms, equipment and supplies are clean and ready for patients
    • Manage supplies,  inventory and ordering.
    • Perform laboratory tests and collect specimens as ordered by the physician.
    • Assist in prescription management including prescription refills and calling in prescriptions to the pharmacy.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
    • Manage patient flow and communicate delays to patients and physician.
    • Participate in street outreach efforts to provide medical care to individuals experiencing or living in underserved communities.
    • Conduct health assessments and screenings in non-traditional settings..
    • Administer basic medical treatments and first aid to address immediate healthcare
