Physical Therapy Assistant - PT

*Shift: 8:00A - 4:30P

 

 

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care. Must follow AIDET and accepts reassignments and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner. Must maintain the department in compliance with rules and regulations set forth by governing agencies. 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. 

Ability to calculate figures. 

Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Must have and maintain current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification or obtain within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
*Indicates Essential Function

1 * Performs patient's ongoing treatment according to evaluation by a Physical Therapist.
2 * Performs appropriate Physical Therapy techniques, taking into consideration the ages of the patients served, in a satisfactory manner. This includes various types of exercise, range of motion, gait training, functional training, developmental training, use of assistive devices, braces or splints, and all modalities of treatment. Changes to treatment will be discussed with a Physical Therapist.
3 * Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development, and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for these patient groups.
4 * Notifies Physical Therapist when progress note is needed.
5 * Responsible for maintaining accurate and timely patient care records to satisfy legal, hospital, and professional requirements.
6 * Responsible for assisting in the education and training of patients and their families to produce optimal patient response.
7 * May assist in training of SVMC employees on back injury prevention and other physical aspects of patient care. May also provide training to other hospital departments on specific injury prevention techniques.
8 * Will be able to assist, as needed, with clerical duties, including patient scheduling, creating charts, patient charges, ordering of supplies, etc.
9 * Completes documentation,/charting timely, per departmental standards.
10 * Scans patient's charts into the EMR, when required.
11 * Assists with Quality Performance Improvement data collection, as requested.
12 * Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
