LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT - APPELLATE COUNSEL – TALLAHASSEE
This position will be hired at the salary rate of $3,653.85 biweekly ($95,000.10 annually) and is non-negotiable.

The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is Florida’s chief health policy and planning entity.
The Agency is responsible for the oversight and administration of the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives and ensuring the safety of Florida’s most vulnerable citizens.
Under the direction of Agency Secretary Shevaun L. Harris, the Agency is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis’ vision for Florida’s health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation.
The General Counsel’s Office provides support to the Agency to assist with carrying out its mission.

The Work You Will Do:
Working under the direction of the Chief Legal Counsel and General Counsel, the senior attorney is responsible for applying his or her legal expertise to draft appellate briefs, engage in motion practice, participate in oral argument, handle litigation in all forums, to research federal and state Medicaid issues, to conduct discovery, and to prepare legal pleadings and briefs.
The attorney must be able to assimilate and analyze a variety of legislation and legal concepts relating to Medicaid issues.
The attorney will be responsible for reviewing proposed final orders at the General Counsel's direction, and make recommendations with respect to whether the Final Order will survive appellate court review, and if not recommend necessary changes.
Additionally, this position supports the General Counsel's Emergency Order team by reviewing Emergency Orders issued by the Agency to ensure that the Order contains correct citations of law and will survive appellate review.
