Job Description:

The University of Florida Student Health Care Center (SHCC) seeks a dynamic Pharmacy Manager to lead the Student Health Care Center Pharmacy Operations, overseeing all personnel management, inventory control, purchasing, and compliance with state and federal regulations. This role includes managing Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) contracts, ensuring safety and quality improvement, supervising staff and licensed interns, and maintaining policies for medication management across multiple satellite clinics. The Pharmacy Manager will also collaborate with healthcare teams, participate in key committees, develop and manage budgets, and provide consultant services while ensuring efficient and compliant pharmacy operations to support patient care excellence.

Pharmacy Operations Management:

  • Oversee inventory purchasing and control for the pharmacy and clinical teams, including contracts, payments, and returns of expired or recalled pharmaceuticals.
  • Manage all aspects of pharmacy operations, including personnel management and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations.

Consultant Pharmacist Duties:

  • Develop and enforce written policies for medication acquisition, distribution, storage, administration, dispensing, and disposal.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of medication storage areas.
  • Maintain and update the Student Health Care Center Clinic and Pharmacy Formulary.

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Supervise Assistant Manager, Staff Pharmacists, Senior Health Support Technicians, licensed interns, and Student Assistants.
  • Participate in key committees, including Pharmacy, Supervisor Work Group (SWaG), Practice Guidelines, and Quality Improvement.

Pharmacy Services:

  • Perform prescription reading, data entry, medication dispensing, and quality assurance.
  • Provide recommendations for over-the-counter products and refer patients to medical staff as needed.

Financial and Systems Management:

  • Manage Pharmacy Benefit Manager contracts, claims processing, reconciliation, and accounts receivable.
  • Develop and maintain pharmacy systems and budgets.

Quality and Safety:

  • Ensure quality control and continuous improvement of pharmacy practices and services.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

The SHCC is fully accredited by the AAAHC and is located in a brand new state-of-the-art WELL certified building on UF’s campus. Medical services offered at the SHCC include primary care, sports medicine, urgent care, gynecology, psychiatry, allergy/immunization clinic, and travel medicine. Radiology, pharmacy, lab, and physical therapy are also on site.
