Our Cloud Architect - GCP AppMod will be an integral part of our Customer Reliability Engineering team in North America. This role is based remotely in North America and can sit in any time zone.

Who We Are

DoiT is scaling rapidly as we work with fast-growing, digitally savvy companies worldwide, helping them harness public cloud technology and services to achieve big goals.

Committed to solving both essential and advanced cloud challenges, DoiT provides intelligent technology to simplify and automate cloud use, alongside expert consultancy and unlimited technical support. Our technology portfolio is backed by deep multi-cloud expertise and includes valuable optimization, analytics, and governance tools and capabilities.

A strategic partner and reseller of Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services with multiple consecutive awards for the partner of the year, DoiT operates across over 70 countries to support thousands of global customers. For more information, visit doit.com.

The Opportunity

  • Our North America client services team is expanding! We are seeking an experienced software engineer, SRE, or cloud architect with a software background, who has current hands-on infrastructure and application modernization experience that will help advise customers on how best to both move their workloads to the public cloud and optimize their existing ones.
  • Reporting to a staff cloud architect in our North America region, you will collaborate with team members globally, while serving our customers through online chat, helpdesk software, and video conference interactions.
  • We believe in life-work balance, in that order. We are fully remote and distributed globally, eliminating the need for on-call status, which allows our team to work standard business hours during the workweek.
  • This role involves supporting many customers simultaneously as they request assistance. Typical interactions include understanding existing architecture, desired future state, current challenges, and then making recommendations on how customers should implement best practices, while occasionally creating proof of concepts in our own controlled environment.
  • The successful candidate will be skilled in communication, documentation, and able to quickly learn new technologies and confidently instruct others based on newly-learned information.
  • Our client services team is made up of lifelong learners. Through customer interactions, DoiT-sponsored continuing education and certifications, plus allotted personal development time, this role guarantees the ability to satisfy the most voracious learning appetite.
  • This is an outstanding opportunity to help shape our future as we ourselves are growing at a rapid pace. Our team also contributes internally on various improvement or automation projects, or proposes their own. We’ve authored and maintain popular open-source tools, numerous automated Slack bots, a skills-based task routing system, integrations of various SaaS products, observability dashboards, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Become a trusted advisor to our customers and their technical teams.
  • Simultaneously support customers at various stages in their cloud journey, meeting them where they are, and helping them get to where they’re going.
  • Autonomously interact with customers online and over video conference calls.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and architecture diagrams to support the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions.
  • Be available and willing to support other client services team members in solving issues within their area of expertise (be a hero amongst your peers).
  • Collaborate with other DoiT departments (Sales, Account Management, Marketing, Product, Engineering, IT), acting as the go-between technical expert between customer goals/objectives and DoiT’s goals/objectives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize opportunities for application modernization and cloud adoption.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and best practices.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a cloud native SWE, cloud architect or similar role.
  • Strong experience with working with cloud native applications, container orchestration platforms such as App Engine Flex, Cloud Run, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), GKE Autopilot, Google Container Registry (GCR) or Artifact Registry, and mesh technology.
  • Proficiency with at least one of DevOps/SRE, Serverless, or Containers.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or Pulumi, CI/CD, and migrating workloads to public cloud
