About the role
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis: Providing advice to Prevention Department Head or on-call duty personnel on whether an event qualifies as a reportable marine casualty. Conduct and prepare suspension and revocation cases in accordance with applicable agency policy, maritime laws, and regulations for administrative action. Investigating merchant mariner negligence, misconduct, and incompetence. Interpreting laws, treaties, conventions, regulations, and directives relating to vessel navigation, vessel inspection, vessel manning, and marine pollution prevention. Utilize computer systems (i.e.) word-processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, graphics, communications, databases, Internet publishing systems, shared files systems, group chats, etc.) to plan and support unit operations and priorities for the mission.
