Job Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director of the University Student Union, the Student Life Resource & Budget Analyst serves as the primary staff member responsible for oversight of all fiscal resources managed within the Student Life unit. Specific areas of oversight include the University Student Union (USU), Campus Recreation (REC), Student Leadership and Involvement Center (SLIC), Cougar Chronicle, Latinx Center, Pride Center, Women and Gender Equity Center (WGEC), Cross Cultural Center (CCC), Asian American Desi American Center (APIDA), American Indian Student Center (AISC), and the Black Student Center (BSC). Specialized programs include Instructionally Related Activity (IRA) fees and the Black Student Success Initiative grant. This consists of more than 17 separate and complex budgets, residing in various locations (general fund, trust, CSUSM Foundation) that exceed ten million dollars in operating funds and another $12 million in reserves. The areas of responsibility for this position include high-level budget analysis of all Student Life departments and subsequent contributions to the Student Life strategic planning process based on in-depth program analysis and policy research.

Position Summary

Student Life Resource and Budget Analyst (Administrative Analyst/Specialist Exempt I)

This is a full-time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

Pay, Benefits, and Work Schedule

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,178 to $6,312 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,598 - $8,318 per month

This position is offered under the CSU classification and salary structure in effect at the time of posting. Please note that the CSU compensation system for this classification will transition to a step-based structure following implementation effective October 1, 2025. Employees in this classification will move to the step system and (new classification) after hire, in accordance with CSU guidelines.

Salary is commensurate with the background and experience of the individual selected.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year; 14 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
