PSE's Office of Controller team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Accountant I - Payroll position!

Job Description
Under general supervision, perform moderately complex accounting and analysis functions. Participate in daily and monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records. Ensure SOX procedures and controls are being complied with and working according to documentation. Ensure customer satisfaction and continual improvement of processes.
Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE’s operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities
- Performs daily audit reviews, reconciliations and verifications of employment.
- Reviews payroll input and resolve conflicts and errors prior to running payroll.
- Processes payroll TBD (Bi-weekly, Monthly, Retiree), and weekly off-cycle payroll.
- Administers gift card reporting and manages payroll mailbox.
- Generates and files payroll cycle tax transfers to IRS.
- Develops and maintains subject matter knowledge in one or more area of PSE’s Payroll programs which includes taxation, union payroll, and executive compensation.
- Ensures compliance with PSE policies and governmental regulations, including Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) guidelines.
- Participates in preparing reports and/or coordinates activities to support legal and regulatory compliance activities.
- Analyzes PR program plan improvements and potential legal issues.
- Maintains knowledge of process improvement techniques.
- Proposes approaches to satisfy reporting and compliance requirements.
- Supports vendor operational integration into PSE processes.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of processes with vendors, including documenting processes. Works with vendors on continuous process improvements.
- Acts as liaison with vendors to ensure they have documentation and other materials and reports needed to implement and/or administer PSE programs.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of PSE HR SAP system, including how to research employee information and GL program expense and how to run standardized reports.
- Analyzes and evaluates various reports to ensure compliance, program effectiveness and monitors financial obligations.
- Coordinates with other areas of the business and/or vendors to support reconciliation to the general ledger and/or ensure accurate record.
- Complies with internal controls and actively update and test SOX 404 procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Good understanding of GAAP
- Good verbal and written skills
- Strong PC skills (including Excel, Word, Access)

- Experience with SAP
- Certified Public Accountant or candidate
- Certified Management Accountant or candidate
- Advanced Degree

The pay range for this position is $72,700.00 - $103,300.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
