Summary
Hennepin County's Mental Health Center (MHC) within Human Services Public Health has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Psychiatric Social Worker to provide outpatient clinical assessment and treatment services as a member of the MHC’s multidisciplinary treatment team. This position will support Adult & Youth Outpatient Substance Use Programming, which includes facilitation of group therapy. The Mental Health Center is a state Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) dedicated to offering wide-ranging mental health and substance use disorder care. The MHC’s team of support and provider professionals provides comprehensive outpatient mental health services to adults with serious mental illness as well as those with co-occurring substance use disorders. Additionally, the MHC serves children, adolescents, and families, many of whom are involved with other county programs.

This position is located at the Mental Health Center located at 2215 East Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN 55407. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some evenings.

This is a full-time, benefit-earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of Human Services Public Health to apply for this position. Note: Limited duration employees are not eligible.

In this position, you will:
- Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments of children, youth, and adults to determine appropriate treatments based on the initial problem, current mental status, and the diagnostic impressions.
- Prepare diagnostic assessment reports, including use of self-reporting tools, presenting problems, biopsychosocial history, and psychiatric diagnoses.
- Facilitate the development of a person-/family-centered integrated treatment plan based on identified needs and preferences.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based interventions to children, youth, adults, and families who may be involved with child protection and/or juvenile justice.
- Document all client and client-related encounters in Epic according to MHC standards.
- Provide/oversee care coordination to enable and support care pathways.
- Participate in multidisciplinary consultation meetings with psychiatrists, APRNs, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health practitioners and professionals.
- Participate in MHC’s quality improvement efforts, including those directed toward anti-racism, equity, and trauma awareness.
Need to have:
- Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field and two or more years of post-master's degree experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting.
- Qualification as a Mental Health Professional as defined by the Minnesota Mental Health Act.
