Job Description
We are seeking a Lab Operations/Cell-based assay scientist. The primary role will be to provide lab and instrument maintenance as well as support development of and conduct immunology-based bioanalytical assays with an emphasis on cellular immunology methodologies to characterize functional T-cell and B-cell subsets and innate immunity for early vaccine programs. This position will be based in Springhouse, PA.
Cell-Based Assay Scientist responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Independent execution of flow cytometer and cell sorter instrument setup and acquisition of samples
- Operate and maintain complex instruments by conducting routine maintenance, instrument troubleshooting, and ensuring proper instrument calibration and performance
- Assess reagent and lab consumable inventories and order supplies when needed
- Develop and qualify immunological bioanalytical assays to support high priority biological and vaccine programs
- Maintain accurate records of ongoing projects in adherence with documentation guidelines similar to GxP Assist in generation and review of SOPs, reports and other formal documentation
- Collaborate and communicate with other laboratory scientists, management, and Quality Assurance to ensure timely delivery of nonclinical and clinical results
- Analyze samples using multiple platforms such as ELISpot/FluoroSpot, flow cytometry, and MSD or Luminex
- PBMC isolation
- Work according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidance
- Work in a structured environment under direct to moderate supervision
Adhere to GLP regulations and safety requirements in BSL-2
Qualifications
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience in cell culture and cell-based assays such as ELISpot, flow cytometry-based assays, or PBMC isolation
- Familiarity with flow cytometer equipment and maintenance
- Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight timeline and problem-solving skills
- Ability to review documentation for compliance and scientific soundness
- High sense of responsibility, accountability, and professional integrity
Preferred skills
- Demonstrated experience analyzing flow cytometry data using specialized platforms
- Bioinformatics or computational biology experience and/or experience writing code for analyzing and visualizing data sets using R/Python or similar
- Working experience in a regulated environment (GxP, preferably GLP) and instrument validation experience
- Experience with liquid handlers and other automated and/or robotic platforms
