How you’ll make a difference
As the Distribution Center (DC) Manager, you will be responsible for the exceptional results for efficient inbound and outbound product flow, and all functions in between. You will be responsible for leading, developing, and engaging a variety of teammates and making innovation possible, focusing mainly on motivating and coaching your team to become the best they can be. To achieve this, you must be a creative problem solver capable of interpreting data, dreaming big, and delivering meaningful results that continue to drive productivity and efficiency. Some of the position’s key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of six frontline Supervisors, eight Leads, and up to 70 hourly Distribution Center Specialists; mentoring, training, and developing teammates for career progression, performance improvement, and recognition.
- Acting as the primary source of information for the Distribution team, maintaining compliance and consistency, and taking corrective action when needed; serve as the liaison between Senior Leadership and Distribution teammates, setting expectations for job functions to both groups, and communicating up the team’s needs around development, new equipment, and other areas of investment.
- Supporting all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all teammates within the building; acting as the primary site leader responsible and accountable for managing the building, working directly with property manager, emergency departments, etc. as needed.
- Creating, communicating, and maintaining quality control policies, standard operating procedures, and best practices, collaborating with other Salt Lake office leaders, and with additional Specialized offices and distribution sites in the process.
- Building and delivering productivity plans by reviewing work forecasts, determining productivity requirements, and adjusting labor costs; proactively identifying and leading process improvement initiatives.
- Evaluating performance objectives and metrics to determine inbound and outbound productivity requirements to achieve customer time, accuracy, and quality expectation; work with senior Leadership to develop long-term strategies for success.
What you need to win
- You will be required to engage in physical Distribution activities on an intermittent or as-needed basis, inclusive of lifting and moving up to 50 pounds at a time, bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head repeatedly, frequent walking up to 10-12 hours per day.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Operations; MBA in related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of management experience in manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.
- Experience in managing front-line teammates, leads, and supervisors.
- Successful track record of motivating teammates and leading large-scale process improvements in times of transition and growth.
- Strong budget management experience.
- Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment and can self-motivate when given a variety of projects with long-term and short-term deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Strong experience with Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, and voice automated picking systems.
