Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Communications Representative (A03) or Senior Principal Communications Representative (A04) to support its Missile Products (MP) business unit. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in omni-channel communications strategies, strong writing skills, and knowledge of industry trends to enhance our storytelling to key internal and external audiences.

In this role, the candidate will help lead the development and implementation of integrated communications strategies and plans that advance our brand and reputation as a leader in tactical solid rocket motors, missile components and other weapon systems with the support from cross-functional communications teams. The person will be responsible for developing and ensuring the proper message is delivered to target audiences across a variety of paid, earned and owned channels.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter and strategic mastermind capable of overseeing many projects at once, with a strong and passionate knowledge of the aerospace industry. You must be detail-oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have a knack for dissecting a communication task to get to the “why.” The candidate must have demonstrable skills in developing strategic communications plans as well as the coordination, development and execution of content creation for scripts, digital, print, and other communications platforms. An understanding of weapon systems, experience in working with US government customers, and the desire and ability to learn and communicate about complex systems highly desired. This position demands a self-motivated, poised, and approachable individual who can work independently, manage multiple deliverables in collaboration with senior executives and employees, and offer sound communications counsel to business partners.

This position may be located in either Rocket Center, WV or McLean, VA.

Specific duties include:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and campaigns, in alignment with key business priorities, to bring our story to life across a diverse stakeholder base.
  • Create engaging and compelling content from start to finish for multiple channels based on customer and market insights, including videos, website content, social media, tradeshow collateral and executive messaging.
  • Work alongside senior executives to craft internal messages supporting employee engagement, strategic communications and external speaking engagements.
  • Partner with business development, strategy and program management teams to write product information for business pursuits and captures.
  • Partner with Communications leadership to execute and project-manage key stakeholder-messaging and reputation-building events, including major facility openings, high-level customer tours of key manufacturing sites, and thought-leadership engagements. Spearhead design of materials, messaging and supporting digital collateral.
  • Consistently evaluate and make recommendations to business leaders on new and innovative sales and marketing tools to promote products.
  • Ensure consistency and integration across all messaging platforms with precise attention to detail.
  • Understand and support the brand vision through careful execution of the design, messaging, voice and approach of all marketing efforts.
  • Manage execution elements including web, collateral, content, videos, events, demos, PR, digital, social media, advertising, thought leadership etc.
  • Train and prepare subject matter experts for media interviews and lead interviews with reporters.
  • Gather and analyze metrics dashboards to identify effectiveness on key campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement.
