Senior Staff Data Center Mechanical Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 12 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
  
• Experience in mechanical infrastructure.
• Experience in Fire Engineering and Sustaining Engineering.
• Experience with mechanical system analysis and common engineering software packages.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant field or a professional engineering license.
  
• Experience in estimating, mechanical design, operation, and commissioning of mission critical data center mechanical equipment.
  
• Experience in design, operation, and commissioning of industrial cooling systems.
• Experience in electrical and control systems, commissioning of mechanical cooling plants and fire suppression systems.
• Experience in designing modular building scale assemblies, with an understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering and design principles with specific expertise in the areas of design for medium-scale production, structural beams/elements, and international building codes.

Our multidisciplinary engineering team provides engineering support in the design, construction, and operation of Google's data centers. In this role, you will have demonstrated design and construction experience in the areas of industrial mission critical facilities and knowledge of mission critical facility’s mechanical infrastructure systems. You will have excellent communication skills, ability to work in teams, and structured organization. You will provide and prepare all types of documents including: Statement of Work (SOW), engineering reports, design docs, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, drawing markup, budget, schedule, and commissioning program docs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $214,000-$302,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with core team to understand and develop the Data Center (DC) mechanical designs starting with basis of design (BOD) to issue for construction (IFC) for new DC projects build outs and major infrastructure upgrades.
• Manage all mechanical, fire suppression, and plumbing system issues during concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, manufacturing, delivery, and installation on site. Identify and resolve issues raised by cross-functional teams and various external stakeholders.
